Your story is quite different. It was accidental.
She deliberately did exactly what I described, set out to collect and donate, and even gave advice to people to cooperate with her on that deception. If she has a forgetful 50 year old brain like she says, she could just say she doesn't know what I'm talking about. The point is, it goes to her state of mind back then. She was convinced what she did was justifiable, and certain lines were crossed. She was deceived herself, and used to deceiving others, carrying on TF's modus operandi.
