Over the years, the NFL has been plagued by scandals involving sex, drugs, domestic violence, murder and most recently, the Superbowl "wardrobe
malfunction." I'm sure they don't want to create the appearance that they are promoting and legitimizing the conduct of the criminal organization that founded, sponsored and still runs the Family Care Foundation. I would
just as disappointed and outraged if the NFL promoted a charity or volunteer organization associated with the KKK or NAMBLA.

Here is part of an email I just sent to

I recently visited the NFL volunteer site at http://www.jointheteam.com/ and was extremely disappointed to note that the page contains a link to http://www.familycare.org/ directly above a link to the Peace Corps web site. This is an insult not only to the Peace Corps but also to the many children who have been sexually and physically abused in The Family, the controversial new religious movement formerly known as The Children of God and The Family of Love which founded the Family Care Foundation in 1997 in
a transparent attempt to legitimize their activities. I am certain that the NFL does not wish to promote a "charity" closely associated with an organization that has not only toleratated parental and non-parental abduction, the sexual and physical abuse of children and the use of
prostitution as a fundrasing and outreach method but actually incorporated this into their constantly changing religious theology. While it
is certainly possible that many, if not most, FCF projects are legitimate and beneficial to society in some way, I would hope the NFL does not want
to promote and legitimitze them without making sure potential volunteers and donors are fully aware of their background. Both time and money are
scarce commodities and it seems that it would be prudent for the NFL to more carefully screen and research the background of the volunteer organizations it chooses to promote.
