Believe it or not, I appreciate it when someone takes me to task and asks for clarification. I especially appreciate dialog with SGs about how they are hearing the things I say. I can't possibly know all the triggers, because (among other things) I left TF a long, long time ago.

I find it a strange coincidence of fate that after leaving TF, I got involved with youth ministry in the RC church during the mid-to-late 1980s, only to be devastated by the priest pedophile thing, which affected me personally in the parish where I worked.

That prompted me to get out of ministry altogether and move into social work. I gravitated toward working with abused kids largely because my first field placement was at a residential treatment center run by the Good Shepherd Sisters.

Besides case management, I actually become a foster parent to a 15-year-old girl (Natalie), who really taught me more about resilience and recovery than any textbook or professional practice experience I ever had. I'm happy to say that Nat, who's 25 years old now, is still part of my life.

If you want to know what I consider my true credentials, it's this: mother, survivor, alcoholic.
