Dear Susie, I got a bit "scared" & concerned, feeling I might have gotten you thinking in the wrong direction..although I looked up the word foster parent before & thinking it was ok like that, may be it slipped for what period of time they were in their age group. The children from babies, toddlers to bigger ones - until they went to Comboschools, age 8 or 9? - remained with another couple or adult during the week until they got reunited for the weekend with their parents.I understood the need of TF to take care of the many kids, which got "solved" before by many childcarehelpers, nevertheless I felt the early time of children with their parents is extremely important, at least my feelings run this way.The scriptural reference for handling things like that was the early childhood of Samuel, so if Hannah could've done it that way....Well, we disagreed too much so that we left & remained on our own from then on.
I assume, that that's the way things got handled in the Combos, isn't it?May be people could comment, who had to go through that.If you read Jules testimony, of how they split up teens quite early from their parents, shoving them off to some training center, well that was sad to say reality
more & more. It reminds me a bit of a scene of a movie & I think it's killing fields, where the commies taught children, that the revolution, it's leaders etc are more important than the natural family. So in one idealogy class they have this sketch of a couple with child & this child comes up, takes the pencil of the "teacher" & crosses out the parents.I think it was that film, long time back...there were parallels, sad to say...even if you can back something up by scripture, I think that's really valid for adults...plus the wording for hating your own life & that of those closest to you is really in the sense of loving comparatively less...another subject.
