I joined when I was about that age. It seems like I wanted to escape from the responsibilities that come with growing up and leaving home. So I joined a "home" where I wouldn't have to worry about earning a living, deciding on a career, paying the bills, being alone, finding a mate, making all sorts of personal decisions.

In TF, all those things pretty much get decided for you in some way, shape, or form. If you can, try to point out alternatives to your sister. Does she need a place to live? Has she just broken up with someone or trying to get out of a difficult relationship? Is she ambivalent about going to school and undecided about work? If she's religious, is she connected to a strong, caring faith community? If she's idealistic, would she consider doing volunteer work in a homeless shelter, habitat for humanity, etc.?
