Welcome to the exFamily.org and welcome to boards. It's good you found your way here to a place where we can all talk about things no one else may understand. There's probably a good reason for it.

It's good for us FGs to be able to talk to you and learn more about what it was like for you. Although, some of us left early on, before any of the wide-scale abuses took place, I could safely say that most FGs in processing our own part in the madness, need to hear from SGs like you.

If you don't mind, I'm curious to know what it was like trying to leave as an SG around about 1999. I have a few questions:

Was it easy for you to leave?

Were you convinced not to several times before finally leaving?

When you got out, did you at first think positively of the Family?

Did the Family help you to leave or put you on your feet in any way?

Were you aware what you experienced was "abuse" or was that a realization that came later?

Were you ever asked by members of the Family not to speak out against your step-dad?

Did you find the education you received in the Family adequate or helpful?

What did you when you first got out?

Did you have relatives that supported you?

Did you get some help from the government?

What practical or emotionally difficulties did you face?

What advice if any, do you have for SGs trying to leave?
