it's not my choice

As a parent, the question you ask ultimately is not my choice to make. I have vowed to always respect my children's wishes once they become of age to take on life by themselves. If they were to choose the Family, or any other such cult, it would hurt me deeply and not be something I'd support, but I wouldn't interfere with that choice.

But I believe suicide would be harder for me to deal with than joining a cult. While there's life there's hope and I would be deeply sad if one of my children were no longer a part of my life in that they are still alive. At least in a cult hopefully I would be able to have contact with them and maybe one day they would change their mind and rejoin society at large, but suicide is a no-change decision, once done, always done.
