I didn't say it was, I said it was no longer a dictatorship and was working towards democracy. That is, as long as all the cabinet members don't get assasinated in the meantime. That would be your wonderful soldiers you refuse to call terrorists. BTW, there is a big difference between the other wars mentioned, you are so right in pointing out. The biggest difference to me in the VietNam war was that the Viet Cong were a civilized army. They fought in uniform, they didn't subject their women and children to be a front and blow them up to save their own ass and to fight such a dirty and low down way as to shock the senses (at least for some of us), beheading innocent people in front of the world. They didn't lay down their arms and pretend to be citizens and then harrass and blow up even their own citizens hiding and lurking in the shadows. Nope, they fought fair and square. So, that makes it even more monumental what the U.S. has accomplished so far, of course, the biggest enemy seems to be naysayers who really want the U.S. to fail and see absolutey no good in anything accomplished so far. But, this we may understand generations from now. If we make it through it in spite of our own selves.
