Matt,

In my opinion, the thing about Sam was very harsh, and I don't even like Sam.

I'm an administrator of another ex-member board, and I don't always see eye to eye with the administrators here. But, one thing we do have in common is we try to create an environment where people feel comfortable and safe.

We aren't always successful. Some times we screw it up badly. But, we show up every day and do these jobs as volunteers, and creating this safe space is at the core of our mission.

My personal opinion about the Sam thing, is that it has little or nothing to do with Sam. It has a lot to do with making people feel unsafe, and uncomfortable. Like they might get singled out next.

That's why I felt that I had to put my own personal upset with Sam on the back burner. I don't think it's Sam being attacked here. I think it is anyone who dares to take a stand.

I supposedly got that letter because I'm "Level Headed". But, my wife and I have also been more outspoken on the boards against The Family in the last few months. The possibility that getting that anonymous mailing at my office was thinly disguised threat against us did cross my mind. It's one of the reasons I decided not to acknowledge it on the public boards (until Reseacher "outed" me here).

I also notice that since I posted the current Penal Code section, which mentions nothing about children, "Researcher" has stopped posting.

"Divide and Conquer" is a time proven technique. The Family is probably 3 years behind in its understanding of the online ex-member community. They see Sam as our leader. So, the move is to cut the head off the snake, so to speak.
