good points -- but I don't think that we can attribute everything to the cultic experience. Maybe as in any given group of people, some are just jerks -- nature, not nurture. Jerks in the cult, jerks out of the cult.

I'd vote for a seperate chat board for politics and another one, with a minimum of moderation, for people with a true trailer park mentality. As someone said, a lot of people just don't get it. Let whoever wants to go to the TP and slug it out there. Let them embarrass themselves all they want. I would offer only a minimum of moderation for both boards.

And if people are REAL jerks and insist on being a pain, ban them.

At the end of the day, this is not a democracy. You run the board, invest the sweat equity, so you get some say in what goes on.

The problem with the board structure now is that you have one string -- Gen X -- as a catch-all for a wide range of topics. I agree with keeping it open for discussions which broadly reflect the mandate of this site.

I'm not saying that politics equals the TP. But if people want to talk politics, let them have a place to do it. You have a religion section, why not a politics?
