Brief guide to writing letters re: COG.

I just saw someone posted the Family Mission’s bank details here. I think there is a right and a wrong way to go about bringing such information to the authorities / official bodies such as banks: And I will out line my thoughts as such. This applies to any angle of the COG’s “excesses”

1) The communication must state who you are, your current and/or past relationship to the group and why you are writing the letter. This is vital. You must include your name address and contact numbers if the letter is to be taken seriously.

2) The communication must be dispassionate and formally worded. (Sam A’s style of breaking straight into graphic descriptions of sexual abuse to a third party who has no knowledge of the group or the individuals to whom Sam is referring to is most likely to be dismissed).

3) The communication must be specific, pointing towards specific details that can be verified in some way by an uninformed third party: newspaper clippings, court documents, financial documents, witness statements etc.

Imagine writing a letter to the US Senate about CIA corruption and harping on about what “they” did in Nicaragua without naming people, places, times and specific details that can be verified by an objective third party. The letter would go in the bin. The same principal applies here.

4) The communication should also include a question or request. This is necessary to ensure that the recipients of your communication will engage in some type of dialogue with you. Also that you have a specific reason to get back in contact with them, which you will need to do.

The question can be something along the lines of: “Where and to whom should evidence relating to this matter be sent…” The request can be something like “If I am approaching this situation in an inappropriate manner I would appreciate your advice on how exactly I should pursue the matter”

5) Understand finance and resource restrictions may be behind lack of action on the part of authorities.

This can make the continuous pressing of the situation vital. Which in turn makes the pre-letter phone call and acquiring the name of the person responsible for dealing with the situation absolutely necessary.

Note: Determining the names and department’s of those responsible is vital in fighting the red tape menace and getting the letter to who it should go to

6) The follow up communication two options.

After sending the material, you make a follow up call and the likelihood is that you will be informed that the situation is being looked at. Depending on who you are, what you have sent and who you have sent it to this can mean anything from they will investigate straight away to they will do nothing. Give them a little time, say about 1 month.

Option 1:
Send on more material, this serves to ensure that a file of some description is opened up and the matter is being investigated in some capacity.

Option 2:
The other option is to leverage support or back up from another agency/s, this is potentially quite effective and involves sending a copy of your initial communication to a higher or different authority/s and ask that they assist in determining the answer to the question you asked in the letter. Or you could request of them to establish on your behalf what is going to be done with the information you submitted.

The benefit of this is to let as many agencies and groups know about the situation as possible and that you are still awaiting information from a specific person/ dept. This serves to apply pressure.

7) Be flexible and determined with your mind on the goal constantly and keep pressing in a RESPECTFUL, FORMAL MANNER involving AS MANY DIFFERENT GROUPS AND AGENCIES AS POSSIBLE until the matter is dealt with.

As Malcolm X used to say “the squeaky hinge gets the oil”. Get your info accurate and make as much noise as necessary.

The only people who benefit from the silence and secrecy are those that are hiding from the truth.
