Like it or not...
Most brainwashing cases go badly for the brainwashed.
Patti Hearst and the Manson girls come to mind.
I have no doubt in my mind that what happened to them was brainwashing. But, they still had to pay for their crimes.
Personally, I don't think it is always fair... but that's the way it seems to go most of the time.
