I agree. GenX is intended as a place where religious discussions are off limits and as you said, Susie, it is a place for people ‘only interested in the physical, practical journey of life.’

However, in a later post, you added, ‘Can we have a non believers boards like Kathy's Corner where we can discuss how we FEEL about religion ... a space for atheists to vent.’ This is a different issue. At present, the rule regarding no discussion of religion on GenX means that no one discusses religious issues.

We could possibly change the rule so that people could vent about religion on GenX, but you did specify that you don’t want to have to continually argue your stand. By this do you mean that you would want only those who agree with you to be allowed to post on GenX—and that Christians and believers would be banned from responding to statements made here, even if you state that non-Family Christianity is the same as the cult?

We could make a rule that believers were not allowed to respond to statements on GenX—but they would invariably repost you on Journeys and respond to you there. You would then face the daily choice of either ignoring them or of going to Journeys to respond. (Journeys, by the way, is not a board for Christians only, but for those of any religious persuasion to discuss, and as you will note by Perry’s posts there, it is a place where atheists can freely vent about religion.)

I'll discuss this with the other coordinators, but up to this point I prefer Perry’s approach where he feels free to state his beliefs in a public forum, both on Soapbox and Journeys. Despite Citizen's reaction to Perry's 'Jesus myth' statement, I believe for the most part Perry has earned significant respect for the intelligent and thoughtful way he usually presents his case, even from those who disagree with him.

MG, I understand your point, 'In other words, I think on this board it's a place to say "I'm an atheist" & give the reasons why without being encouraged to "have faith" and getting quoted scripture?' If the discussion stuck to that, it might be possible to have a place where only atheists & agnostics were permitted to post, but since Susie has specified that she wishes to vent about religion, I don't see how we could forbid believers from responding without being accused of censorship.
