Does exFamily have an "anti-Christian" bias?

Posted by Roger (coordinator) on November 13, 2004 at 16:02:18

I mentioned this below but am reposting it here to open a discussion on the topic:

Several people have stated that exFamily has an anti-Christian bias. However, I myself am a Christian and have only received respect from the other coordinators for my faith, which I have always been very open about.

Mind you, I have been told bluntly by other Christians that I am a "compromiser" but I have never felt about "preaching" to other ex-members, especially since we were all in the same cult and all know all the verses and many people have been badly burned by religion.

I realize the necessity of working with a multiplicity of worldviews, including athiests, as well as the many people who have been burned out on faith by the Family and don't know what they believe any more. On these public boards there is often heated debate about Christian faith, and I understand how some people take those disputes personally, but the assertion that Achieck was "driven away" from these boards for her refound faith is simply not true.

For example, some time ago Perry said he was glad he didn't have to believe the "Jesus myth" any more. I didn't feel intimidated or offended by Perry's post in any way. I know what I believe and Perry was also simply expressing his personal journey, which is his right on these boards.

Our site exists for all exers, Christians and non-Christians alike, and while that often means heated debates, we simply cannot cater to one party to the exclusion of the others. I regret that the recent elections have caused even more division over these issues.
