I disagree that it was harmless and insensitive. And in my opinion, it's not a question of moving it to Journeys. The greeting was directed to the entire community of people who frequent this site. Within this community are non-Christians, some of whom have been harmed to varying degrees by Christianity and who come to this site, in part, as part of their personal healing process.

The poster did not take that into consideration when including me in their greeting, but instead took it for granted that no one using these specialized forums would be offended by a Christian greeting. With a bit of sensitivity and compassion its easy to see the obvious and simple solution. The poster should have just directed the greeting to those who care about those things. It could have simply said, "To those of you who celebrate the holiday, merry xmas" or something similar, something that shows consideration and respect to those here who are not merely non-christians, but people harmed by that religion.

This particular holiday can be a very stressful time for people at the best of times, so anyone aware of the wide ranging issues people here are dealing with might use a little more caution. I realize that some will think that I'm just being overly sensitive or politicially correct. They can think what they want. I merely expressed an honest emotional reaction to the general greeting. I was not attacking the poster, just hoping for a little more consideration.
