I find this all very interesting. I have family members in the 'Family' Organization in Brazil. They have solicited me for regular donations and have told me that I could get a tax deduction for the money I would send them if I sent it to them through FCF. They said FCF would then forward the money for them. They said FCF was set up for to allow US donors to make tax free contributions. It appears many local 'Family' groups set up paperwork 'Non-profit' groups and FCF then channels the money to them. Of course once the money gets to the local 'Family' group who knows where or how it is really spent.
