You know what gets me?

That "Claire" the Family spokesman goes on about how things have changed. That sexual abuse has been "banned".

As if that makes everything okay. She doesn't acknowledge that the sexual abuse that was given to Ricky and his knowledge that the abuse happened to many others drove him over the edge.

That they are accountable, even if it did happen in their past.

That the so called 'vindication' of not being found guilty was a lie, because they had burned and got rid of the evidence of that very abuse.

They have not one word of sorrow for the deaths of their children (suicides) but try and make it sound as if they ex members are making up figures.

It just sounds insane, instead of apoligising for the terrible, terrible reality of sexual and physcial abuse in the Family and the obvious terrible results in their children (suicides) they try to vindicate their sexual methods against them by saying it's just a few kids that have committed suicide.

They don't even admit that they were "forced" by the judge in England to change their ways. That Maria NEVER saw it as evil, but just having to do it because of the "system".

They refuse to be sorry for promoting sexual abuse and are not sorry for destroying Ricky's life, and I fear for poor Techi too.

Covering up will never bring peace to these victims. Trying to blame the victim instead covering up the abuse that happened by saying how they now have supposedly changed.(Marķa's own words condemn her and shows she didn't change her stance on the promotion of sexual contact between adults and children and was only forced into it)

Makes me so mad.

Although the group has publicly renounced former policies and doctrines that condoned or encouraged sex between adults and minors, in their internal publications there has been no such renunciation. Evidence of this is represented by the following quote from Family leader Karen Zerby:

"This [sexual contact between adults and minors] is about the only subject where we're really going along with the System, we're playing along with them, we're acting like we believe what we did was wrong, because we have changed, and stopped doing it . . . We need to somehow explain to our [teenagers] that love and loving affection is not wrong. As it says in [Berg's writings], if it's not hurtful, if it's loving, then it's okay. Of course, having actual intercourse with a child wouldn't be okay as it wouldn't be loving, but a little fondling and sweet affection is not wrong in the eyes of God, and if they have experienced the same in the past they weren't 'abused.' . . . We need to explain to our [children] that any experience they may have had along these lines, if it was loving and if it was desired, was not wrong. We need to show them that even if in some case the experience for them wasn't so great, that by comparison to what goes on in the System, it still wasn't 'abuse.'" --[Karen Zerby], Summit '93, Mama Jewels #2, 1992. p.19.
