having marks means bruises and that is wrong. When I got spanked with a coat hanger, there would be welts, but soon they were gone. It didn't leave bruises. I don't think people use coat hangers anymore. What I was trying to say is that people did that as a normal thing. My mother wasn't a child abuser, she thought this was the proper way to discipline children. Using a switch or cane used to be normal too.
The thing is, people are learning not to use such harsh discipline. It's a matter of educating the public.
But a lot of people still spank their children, it doesn't mean they are going to leave bruises.
