These are a few answers from what I've gleaned:

Why am I giving a statement? You may have testimony, evidence, or personal experience that will support an investigation into criminal activities by the Family.

For what exact purpose am I giving a statement? To help support such an investigation esp. in the area of child abuse that was part of the belief system of the group, esp. in the 80s.

Who is it going to? That depends on who you send it to. If via the LaMattery resource, it will be forwarded on to the FBI. If directly to the FBI, then that's where it goes.

What effect will it have? It depends on what you impart in your statement.

How do you know it will have an effect? Most likely you won't know personally. Your statement is part of a greater whole, each statement contributing to support the case in hand.

Who will see my statement? Depending on where you send it, if via the LaMattery resource, then Jim LaMattery may see it (I will try to find out who this goes to and etc..). If directly to the FBI, then only they will see it, naturally.

Who will have copies of it? This I don't know because it depends entirely on how you send it in.

Will anything I say be in the paper? It is not the intention to use statements or affidavits for newspaper or media purposes.

Will the abuser know I gave a statement? No, your name will not go out in public. Only if you are named as an abuser and the case goes to court will you possibly be named publicly. Otherwise confidentiality is very strict and persons who submit statements and affidavits will not become publicly known or named.
