What do you need, Windy?

Your family appears to have a parental system that is, for whatever reason, primarily involved in getting its own needs met. Jim's talk of buying a gun is about getting his own emotional needs met. While his post appears to express concern for his abused nieces and nephews, its primary purpose is to focus attention on him, on his feelings, his emotional needs. Furthermore, it doesn't matter how many people are offended or threatened by his posts, because negative attention is better than no attention at all.

Children in family systems like this try to earn love, attention and approval by satisfying their parents' needs. As a self-appointed spokesperson for abused SGAs raised in the Family, Jim regularly sets up conditions where he needs to be defended by his younger family members. Defending your family from censorship and criticism--is that really what you need to be doing at this point in your life?

This post isn't about your father or your family. It's about you. What do you need to take care of yourself and be happy?
