"We" did not lose the court case, the Family did not win it either.

Pearl was allowed to keep Sammy on grounds that certain changes were made in the group, apologies and retractions of Berg's statements and writings. But he still remained in the court's guardianship which they could revoke and remove him if they saw that Pearl wasn't holding up to her end of the bargain.

The Family proclaimed it a victory, just as they told us, the dumb sheep, that we were being persecuted for righteousness sake. We didn't know the actual details of what was happening in the case, it was all very hush because the judge ordered that nothing be leaked out of the courtroom. All we had to go on was the what our leaders told us. I remember getting down on hands and knees and praying desperately in tongues and weeping (well, no tears), for God to intervene, damn our enemies and redeem us, the innocent.

When I left the group and read the actual case online, it was a key turning point for me, I was so unsettled by how deceived I had been, it caused me to begin questioning many other things as well, wondering that if I'd been so lied to over this, then what else?

So no, the Family didn't actually win that case, not like they want to make its members believe. It was not a complete and total victory, and what's worse, it was a case that exposed the group for its own mistakes and not a case of religious persecution.

Besides, didn't Sammy eventually leave the group?
