This was true. We didn't realize it was abuse, at least I didn't because I was uninformed. I always thought it was all my fault. It really has similar dynamics to the battered wife syndrome.
I also noticed on many ocassions how when people became leaders, they turned into these tyrants that just seemed to love ruling over people. Anneke mentions Ben and Miriam. I knew them in Thailand as to be those type of people. They loved the leadership role and they loved making people squirm and cry for their supposed sins. Rose, or Delilah or Cindy Salazar, who is now married to Phillip Sloan is another one like that.
Some of these former leaders who think they are lily white because they didn't participate in the blatant sexual abuse still have blood on their hands whether they want to admit it or not.
