The way it happens is that in a cult, quite often it is not a choice the parents made. And the pain for the parents is as great as that of the child.
I would say that "Mother Eve" is someone who was abused but at the same time, she never chose to get help or come forward with anything to say about the sordid base of the family. Has she said anything in public other than her outrage at what happened to Sue? Some people are bought and paid for I suppose. She didn't seem to mind having a young man when Berg got his younger women.
Something was off with "Mother Eve". Something that never sought healing or truth. At least not that I am aware of. But I feel for those of us parents like Judy who had kids taken away.. just like that. I remember Judy from when I was in the family and she was with Aaron and she was always very down to earth and kind. Not a leader but sort of a caretaker of Aaron. From what she has written I see how painful her existence was both before the family and during it.
I am very very grateful for her talking about her knowledge of the inside workings.
I can understand first hand how a parent can feel helpless to do anything until they have been out of the abusive environment for some time.
