I think she's been silent because for once she doesn't know what to say. Even for a moron like Karen, there are no easy answers in a situation like this.
Many Family members must be asking how their queen ended up with a son who commits murder and then suicide. It doesn't matter what she says to try and distance herself from his actions, there is a strong belief in TF that parents are responsible for what their children do. Berg drilled it into them.
