I still do not agree with your numbers. Again, I am not a statistician . . . but the fact remains that it IS a per year statistic both in Borowick's numbers and in WHO (http://www.who.int/mental_health/prevention/suicide/charts/en/).

Of course one has to multiple by 100,000 to find the "per 100,000", but you also have to factor in the "per year" part of the data.

So, the data referred to is "16 suicides per 100,000 per year". I understand that these values are averaged out over a few years . . . but the units given are "per year".
