hmm..yes, they are in denial, but it's obvious to everyone and they aren't being manipulated by someone holding a bible or Koran and twisting it to make them fearful of disobeying God or think they are doing God service. Nope, I don't see it as the same at all. The drunk started drinking knowing the consequences, whether he denies it now or later is of no consequence. I'm sure the drunk isn't around a roomful of friends telling him he isn't really drunk and it's ok to drive while he's smashed because God had commanded such. I don't see people coercing other people to get drunk and then drive.
