The article on the murderer Wesson that I posted at the top of this board illustrates your point very well.
I've been attending a PTSD clinic since last year, and the psychiatrist and psychologist that are helping me work out certain issues regularly use the comparison to domestic abuse to help me understand some things about my cult self.
