YVW. I don't think what you said was dumb OR irrelevant. I think our pasts played a role for many of us in getting into a cult to begin with.
I also think spilling things like this, amongst supportive people, is important.
I personally found that after getting out of the cult I had family of origin past as well as the cult past to deal with. I wish you well in getting all the support you need for this.
Because of the support I have had and still have, so much healing has occurred that I wouldn't have imagined years ago, that it would even be possible.
