The family in other countries

Posted by Concerned on August 13, 2005 at 02:06:29

Hello all-

First let me say that I have no connection to the Family, something I will remember come Thanksgiving. I hope you don't mind my writing here. I first learned about the Family after Ricky Rodegez's death, I read about Moving.org and went there to check it out. After reading the stories about life in the Family/COG I couldn't sleep for 2 nights. I can't begin to fathom what you all have been through.

Nor do I know what it must be like to live in a place like Cambodia or Myanmar (Burma) with all their problems, but I have some idea having been there. I was therefore very disturbed to learn that the Family is active in those and many other countries. The last thing those tormented countries need is the Family. What's worse, countries like Myanmar are extremely secretive (many people in Myanmar don't know there was a tsunami and no one knows how many people died there.) The family could be up to anything there. I got the chills when I discovered that they have a camp for disabled children in Uzbekistan, another secretive country.

I'd like to look up message boards for countries that the Family is in and post messages warning people about it. It's very unlikely that people in places like Uzbekistan would know about the Family.

Do you all think this would be a good idea? I figure I should run the idea past y'all before doing it. But I'm really worried about people in countries like Myanmar getting sucked up into this, with no access to the truth about the cult. People who have access to the internet, either living in the west or with access to it in their own countries, could warn their friends and family. And if they know anyone who is in the group or thinking about joining, they might be able to warn them.

So what do you think?

Sincerely,
Concerned
