My pool was only a round pool for kids, a circle 8 feet in diameter, but it was very visible. In fact, dating the satellite photos is easy using the pool as reference, cause we got rid of it in spring 2004, so the photos must have been taken in 2003.
About resolution, the map-makers were definitely more interested in certain areas of the world than others. Like the States and Israel you can zoom in real close, but you won't see any camel caravans in the middle of the Gobi desert.
If you want some real fun, try this feature. Right now everything about the world maps are flat from straight above. But go into the Grand Canyon, get the 3-D enhancement feature, then armed with that, go backwards out to the globe and come back in on the location of your choice. We were flying over the Himalayas last night, I circled the volcanos of the Canary islands, etc. If you really wannna see cliffs and mountains in 3-D, come in low.
