In my opinion, what TF is doing is tantamount to fraud, and according to this NY Times piece the FBI might think so too:
http://www.nytimes.com/2005/09/08/technology/08fraud.ready.html?pagewanted=1&th&emc=th

When I volunteer in my community it is implicitly understood that I do so without expecting remuneration. That is even more true in an emergency. The volunteer activities related to hurricane Katrina as described on TF's websites really amount to little more than a few people giving their time talking and praying with people, comforting them, etc., which they should be doing anyway, without expecting to receive anything in return. There's no doubt that they are also taking advantage of the tragedy to evangelize, and they admit as much when they describe their witnessing and litnessing efforts.

However, there is nothing that Family members are doing for hurricane victims that requires them to collect donations, especially when we know that those donations would not go to the hurricane victims but to supporting TF. I think it's pretty disgusting that the Roselles are posed in front of Red Cross signs as if to imply that they are somehow connected with that respected organization, and therefore are legitimate aid workers. When people give donations in a crisis like this they want to be assured that most of it will go to helping the victims and very little to administrative costs. If TF were a credible and accountable organization they could give their donors that assurance, but they're not. I suppose all we can do is hope that no one is deceived into wasting their money by giving it to TF.
