I'm amazed by his non-answers

I've noticed he picks up on one thing in my questions, focus on that & avoids answering every other specific question I ask. He's pretty skillful at it, but it's also pretty obvious & what I'm wondering now is WHY was he doing it?

It may be that his memory can't bring up the answers. He's getting older & possibly the past is getting to be a blur for him & he doesn't remember one way or the other what 'say' he had as a leader in these harsh decisions. That may be the case. But for Jo, I imagine these same events are burned into her memory & she won't forget them any time soon.

I am still amazed that the ONLY bad thing Jim has admitted to doing this far is going out litnessing & trying to win people to the Family. That's IT? I wonder if he remembers what he & the other leaders were discussing so late that caused a pregnant mother to be dropped off in the middle of the night in winter. But you're right. I don't see that any further questioning is going to ever get him to give diret answers.
