I could never really buy the whole thing. Do you come from a born again background? if you had a lot of this in your background, some sort of charismatic fundamentalism, then maybe you would be just switching from one extreme to another?
I was so surprised, when I came to the US, to find out that a lot of TF cultural traits actually belonged to the american landscape at large. i have never been down under but it would be interesting to visit.
