Do you think it's possible there could be a group of people, such as Scientologists, who have put millions of dollars into a public compaign to discredit SSRIs? Do you think you might be listening to only one side of the story?

Interesting that the big campaign is against SSRIs, when people who take anti-psychotics (e.g., Closeril) are MUCH more likely to commit suicide or homicide than people who take SSRIs. Did you know that? Wonder why Scientology picked on SSRIs? Could it be that people who take anti-psychotics can be really quite scarey when they go off their meds, and Scientologists don't have an easy fix for psychotic people like they claim to have for people with mild depression? Do you realize that anxious, unhappy people--the population targeted by Lily for dispensing Prozac through the general medical practice--are also a prime recruitment group for cults like Scientology?

"Damn! I guess I don't need to get clear at $100 a session using Dianetic machines when it's a simple matter of regulating my seratonin uptake at $2 a pop."

I am not denying there are problems with SSRIs. There are problems with all classes of psychotropic medications. Anti-psychotic medications can have horrible side-effects. So can medication for diabetes and heart disease if they're not taken appropriately and monitored carefully.
