it happened to me in 1989. I was pregnant with my last child and I had left a full-time home. I was on government aid so I was able to get check ups on a regular basis. Thank God I WAS pregnant because they discovered genital warts which are precancerous and if left untreated, develop into cervical cancer, a very quick and deadly form of cancer. I was treated for them and nothing ever came of it.

However, the last home I was in on the field - about a year earlier - there was extensive sharing going on amongst the adults. One of the women was a prolific FFer and subsequently died of cervical cancer. I think around the same time I was being treated she was in the thick of her illness. I often thought about her - if she had been getting regular pap smears, she may very well be alive today.
