i know the police don't like to interfere when it's domestic squabbles & i know they have serious crimes to take care of instead, but if you & other witnesses said the big lady was kicking & beating the fallen-down lady & yet the police themselves helped the big lady get the other one in her car, that's kinda sick!

but like you said, the fallen-down lady was standing up for the lady who had beat her, & then it's obvious to the police that she won't press charges, right? so their case is lost before it's even begun.

another thing, i hear the police are required to do HOURS of paperwork for each incident. for each arrest they spend lots of hours filling out reports & justifiying their arrest. i think sometimes they just throw up their hands in frustration. they've probably stepped in many times in the past & learned what happens.

i understand all that, but it's still kinda scary that crimes that happen in the streets in front of witnesses will go unpunished. if she beat & kicked the woman on a public sidewalk, what in hell does she do in the privacy of her home?

did you hear on the news yesterday about the woman who was kidnapped at age 14 & kept in a house for nearly 10 years as a sex-slave & now just got freed? & the guy who did it's saying she could have walked away any time, she was no prisoner & she was manicured & had her hair done up & she's trying to explain she's not making this up, she really was a captive. 'learned helplessness' i think they call it.
