I've been following this story too. There is some speculation that Jeffs fled to Canada. The polygamists in the town of Bountiful, British Columbia have close connections to Jeffs and they have had much publicity in recent years. Jon Krauker has a chapter on Bountiful in his book Under the Banner of Heaven. There has been some recent reports that the Bountiful people are contemplating moving their entire community to somewhere in Saskatchewan, probably in an attempt to escape the level of scrutiny they are getting in BC. It's possible Jeffs is involved with that in someway, or it's just as possible that he fled to Mexico instead, where many fundamentalist Mormons in the past have gone to escape "persecution" from authorities.
