About getting volunteers to work with children and youth. Pedophiles can be very charming people, very charismatic, which gets to be problematic when you're looking for people who can be role models for at-risk kids. Beyond finding volunteers, the pay range for people who work with at-risk kids in mentoring and positive development programs is extremely low. Although security checks are run on both volunteers and youth workers, many pedophiles fly under the radar for a long, long time because no one reports them to the appropriate authorities.

WHen church leaders learn about abusive staff or volunteers in their faith community, these people must be reported to the police, otherwise they'll turn up somewhere else in another community where no one knows their history. Not reporting these people to the police is really a way of covering up their crimes and letting them go free to continue their predatory behavior.
