To quote Abi Freeman, It's just a procedural thing. If the police to decide to let them go, it means there's not a shred of factual evidence against them. Oh really? Oops, otherwise good innocent people were picked up in the police dragnet? Charges dismissed doesn't mean there's no factual evidence that implicated them in a crime. Otherwise, on what grounds can the police arrest a person in the first place? Can British police arrest a citizen for no reason whatsoever? I find that hard to believe.
I get it and don't get it at the same time.
