Berg's history on Jews

Posted by ex-clamation on October 20, 2006 at 18:11:48

I was looking at the COGS Pub of Berg's diary from when he was 16 yrs old. and was struck by this comment:

"MAY 26 SUN: AROSE AT 7:40. DRESSED, ATE. Read last night's News & prepared Sunday School book & Sunday School lesson. Left for Sunday School. Sun.School--Communion lesson--100% Bibles, attendance, & banner offering. Church--Mother preached on "If I could Relive the Years--Five Things I'd Do or Be". Dinner at Wilson's.
Returned home. Read the Sunday papers--we get that new slander paper--the "Tribune"--but I never read it. It's only 1 cent though, & is really awakening the people of Miami to the fact of its rotten municipal government (of Jews!)."

It's funny Berg said he was "Jewish" when it is clear he learned as a youth to despise the derned dirty Jews.
Seems more like he just morphed with whatever seemed to be the most powerful. Like in early COG when he seemed pro-Jewish and said he was Jewish by his mother's side of the family. Seems more like Nazi.
In early COG times the most popular views among Christian movements was that Jews were the elect and you got an extra gem in your crown for converting a Jew. Jewish people who converted were seen as more special.
Obviously from reading this Berg learned to despise Jews in his youth.
I thought it started with his rejection (by Israel) of his idea of starting a Christian Kibbutz in Israel. Or did he add his "Jews" comment in as a small edit before releasing this to TF? I wonder.

That diary compilation shows a lot about Berg and what he was like. Seems his father often disappointed him. Also does anyone know who Mary Lou was? He writes about her inappropriate appearance at dinner and about how she does her make up wrong. Control freak already and way back then.

Another thing was the remarks he made about his dog, Laddie. Seems he wrote about disciplining Laddie by tying him up. Then a bit later there is a very small mention that the doctor (vet) told his mother that Laddie had died. "Too bad."
Most of that days writing was about what he had to eat. No emotion whatsoever about the loss of the dog. That's weird, imo.

First time I had seen this pub.
