I pretty much agree with your comments Jo.

One minor quibble regarding the statement "When you live in a dysfunctional family, you think it's normal". When I read that I took it to mean that the former Jones follower was comparing the cult to a dysfunctional family, not that he/she left a dysfunctional family to join a cult, though I'm sure that was the case for many people. What I thought that statement meant was that when you are in a cult, which is dysfunctional or abusive on so many levels, the indoctrination a person is subjected to makes the cult life seem "normal" and everyone else dysfunctional.

As far as Tom Cruise goes, I haven't yet seen the evidence that he is "losing big time for his tight associations to Scientology". On the contrary, he seems more popular than ever. Even Brooke Shields, with whom he had a public dispute with over psychiatric medicine, attended his wedding. And though the movie studio he was previously contracted to let him go, he has now taken control over another studio, United Artists, I think it is. He will continue to make tons of money and spread scientology contagion. I just don't get it. I can't even watch a Cruise movie anymore, he makes me so sick.
