Scientology

I had a couple of interesting brushes with Scientology over the long weekend.

First I found a bag of literature on my doorknob. The top was very pale yellow and in white print you could barely read it said "The Church of Scientology". Right under that in a dark orange, very easy to read it said "Mission of Sunland-Tujunga. It's nice to meet you!".

Before I looked more closely at it (and noticed the almost impossible to read "COS" name at the top) I thought it was some kind of outreach from a neighborhood church.

According to the material inside, they are opening a Dianetics & Scientology Mission of Sunland-Tujunga (the small town right next to mine).

In an unrelated incident on a local message board that I frequent, someone dared to write a less than positive post about Scientology and received a quick response:

"As a Scientologist, I really don't think that this forum is the place for your covert jab at my religion or ANY religion. Perhaps you should get out and meet your neighbors. There are thousands of Scientologists living and working in the Foothills and many are members of the Foothills Forum. Your bigotry is not welcome here."
