Cults in China

The following paragraph really stood out to me. The dates of 1989 and 1993 were very significant dates in TF's failed eschatology so it is extremely curious that this cult leader predicted Jesus' return on those dates. And his explanation for his failed predictions takes a page right out of TF's book.

"The group [Three Grades of Servants] is millenarian. Xu, followers say, predicted that Jesus would return to earth and eliminate nonbelievers in 1989, then again in 1993. When this did not happen, Xu explained that even God misjudged how long Abraham's descendants would stay in Egypt. He did not set a third date for the Second Coming."
