I meant literally. He saved my sister from choking on the slippery seed of a mangosteen. She was turning blue but nobody else noticed.
He had wanted to leave TF, but not without my mother and siblings. He stuck around for years waiting for her to come round, until finally she decided to leave together with him.
When conditions were tough he used a secret stash of money to feed them while other children living on provisioned food were under-nourished. He sheltered my mother from FFing.
He could have left without them but he didn't. Because of him my siblings were spare a fate I was not. I stayed behind with my father and grew up with horrors like rape, beatings, no medical treatment. At first I was mad at my mother for leaving me with my father, but now I am happy for them.
