Magicians (like Peter) are always redirecting your attention, while they pocket a coin or produce another rabbit. He doesn't need the money.
Peter long ago overhauled the financial motor of the Family (interpretation: pocketed all available resources for himself and Zerby: think Gold, think cash, think traveller's checks, think jewelry, hidden assets); this was in order to assure themselves of a secure future, so they were better able to focus on the Family needs.If you can believe that. Irony Alert!!!!!!!
Anyway. Peter is a little jealous and irritated at the homeowning leadership around the world, who are not playing the game right anymore. These homeowners are "giving love a bad name" as it were. They and the secret disciples who left the cult with windfalls of our hard earned witnessing cash, want their monthly budgets to remain the same, or else they might not be loyal...blah, blah.
Peter is playing a big game. It's called deception. Look over here! Look over there! Look at this!
