Why not encourage and maintain a boycott by all "disgruntled" posters as possibly the very best solution? Why go back, be a glutton for torture (your own or anyone else's) by starting over and most likely ending in the same manner because nothing has in fact changed, or, I should say, remains the same as when you left?
If you are satisfied in knowing that now you can know for sure that you are allowed a hollow opinion, "free to participate and follow the guidelines", then I would go back.
Just an idea, an opinion.
