Something both cases may have in common is how the perp used fear to control and manipulate the victims.
I was struck by the issue of infantilization because of the way TFI's leadership treats its membership like children and encourages dependency on the "new wine" as a unique source of spiritual nurturance. Also, I'm reminded of the powerful effect that TFI's "love bombing" has on people. It's kind of like being a newborn where everyone wants to hold you, coo and cuddle, etc.
