At first glance this was just a feud between 2 people with 2 different opinions. Now I can't help but see it differently. You have some really calloused remarks borne of your Family education.
So paying a fine of $1,500 writes off kidnapping? That pays for the permanent damage to a child, and the anguish of a mother? The mother got what she wanted and was happy or at least should have been happy? That's it? All was well with her then? Who are you able to determine that for her and the son?
Have you asked what they are going through now and if there are still repercussions from Steve's actions years ago? Or have you just assumed everything is fine because you can read their minds?
