You've stated very good reasons for the existence of this website and xfamily.org. Both sites make an effort to preserve an alternate history of the group for anyone who has eyes and ears. More and more evidence from vandari and former members is surfacing every day and being archived.

TFI may go on to the third and fourth generation, but they will find it extremely difficult to become a respectable church. More people, particularly within the legal system, are questioning the use of religious freedom as a cover for criminal activity. Also, the general public is much more cognizant of child abuse issues in 2007 than in 1990.

When it comes to respectability, TFI is in the same boat as fundamentalist Mormons as long as it preaches some form of One Wife. Even if it disavows that doctrine, it still has to deal with the fact that its child protection policies are in a worse state of affairs than Jehovah Witnesses and Roman Catholics. Even though TF no longer openly advocates pedophilia as a practice, children raised in TF will continue to come forward as adults and claim abuse because TF has done very little, if anything, to root out and expose the covert abuse that goes on in its ranks--the same type of covert abuse that goes on among the JWs and RCs. The churches that will grow, prosper and enjoy respectability are the ones that address issues of child protection in a serious way, imo.
