the family

Posted by jhart on May 05, 2007 at 05:04:33

At present I prefer to not to revel my identity for fear of retaliation.

I left the Family of Love in the late 80's, as a full-time DO member living inside a colony of family home in Asia. I really don't have any bitterness or hatred toward the family in particular, but I do believe they have gotten off the right track.

When I first met them in 1970, I was a graduate student in Psychology study the difference between intrensic and extrensic religion. This is what really led me to get close to a family outreach that was in Ft. Worth, and later join the Texas Soul Clinic (TSC)

That was 37 years ago and the Children of God has changed in everyway over that period of time. Actually, it is the general assembly (body) that has changed through years and not so much the head. As I discovered while going through "boot-camp" the leadership, beginning with Moses David and Maria have always believe and practiced sexual liberties.

I joined TSC just after the COG had landed there to start building its first organization, and all the Royal Family ended up there sooner or later. Even Dad, David and Maria, returned from Isreal and were living in the ARK at TSC for awhile. It was Jethro and Deborah that led me and a friend to the Lord and introduce me to all the right leaders.

It was such a wonderful time of sponsaneous emotions and love during those hippie love and spiritual revolution days. I met Queen Rachel, Samson Warner, Faithy, Aaron, Mother Eve, Big Josh, and many other's. They were all wonderful people excited about being on the ground floor of a new religion, and more than that about making a real change in the lives of youth.

As long as Dad, David Berg, was alive and leading the group there was always change, excitement, and good leadership. Though many slam him for his sexual belief and practices, I don't, as he was not a hypocrite and did bring things out in the open when he thought the majority of the followers could handle it.

People had plenty of opportunity to leave the family, as I did voluntiarily. I continue to read the Mo letters until 1997 when I discovered that Peter was really in control of the operations and leadership. When the family was under day before the Love Charter and was a loose-knit christian organization, it was still good.

As long as free-will people had the opportunity to serve the Lord with the family independently without too much top-down control things were still fixable. Now, the family is controlled through the minimun number of voting members in a home, the teamworks in the home, and the network of upper leaders - Visiting Servants and CRO's. They control through this nextwork of communications (often gossip about a member), and the rules and regulations contained in the Love Charter.

Queen Maria writes lots of good and truthful letters and I believe lots of people would stay positive to the family if they were allowed to follow on their own freewill. They want followers to acknowledge Peter as the new King who took Mo's place and as the husband of Maria, but I don't believe people really do so their is a rif going on now and it will continue. I would tell you much more, but its late and time is short.
